Event & Community Engagement Manager
- Full Time – Exempt
- Reports to: VP, Marketing & Communications
- Salary Range: Up to $70,000 annually, DOE, plus benefits
- Location: 50 Old Courthouse Square, Suite 110, Santa Rosa, CA 95404
Position summary:
The Event & Community Engagement Manager will oversee and organize a variety of events related to the programs and organizations under the Santa Rosa Metro Chamber (SRMC). In coordination with the VP of Marketing & Communications, this position will be responsible for creating and managing the SRMC event calendar and will organize and execute several community facing and seasonal events including Beer Passport (FeBREWary) and Courthouse Square programming including Summer on the Square, Fall Fun Fest, and Winter Lights. This position will oversee a full-time, hourly Event Coordinator who will be responsible for planning, organizing and executing the Chamber’s membership and programmatic events and providing support for the SRMC’s community facing events, as needed. The Event & Community Engagement Manager will also be responsible for directing the local beer industry strategies of both Visit Santa Rosa (VSR) and the Chamber.
This position is full-time exempt and on site, with occasional evening and weekend work required.
Responsibilities:
- Create, manage, and maintain an SRMC event calendar.
- Plan event(s) from start to finish according to requirements, target audience and objectives, including, but not limited to: community facing events such as Summer on the Square, Fall Fun Fest, Winter Lights, & Beer Passport (FeBREWary)
- Support external events on behalf of the Santa Rosa Metro Chamber and work with the City of Santa Rosa to keep a shared calendar up to date
- Develop recommendations to enhance event success
- Prepare budgets and ensure adherence
- Secure sponsorship/ticket sales in support of event budget
- Source and negotiate with vendors and suppliers
- Coordinate event operations, including personnel and volunteer support, supplies required, etc.
- Coordinate with the Marketing & Communications Manager in promotional activities for the event/program
- Ensure events are completed smoothly and step up to resolve any problems that might occur
- Analyze the event’s success and prepare reports to be shared with sponsors and the City of Santa Rosa
- Provide direction and assist in all beer related activities including acting as the main liaison between Visit Santa Rosa, breweries, and beer related events
- Responsible for creating and managing all Visit Santa Rosa digital experience passports
- Prepare for and represent Visit Santa Rosa at beer and wedding related tradeshows, sales events, and tours along with completing a post trip report and analysis
- Achieve annual team and individual goals as set by the VP of Marketing and Communications
- Handle sales inquiries in the absence of the VSR Director of Business Development
- Be an ambassador for SRMC and all of its programs
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or qualifying experience
- At least four years of experience with event or project management
- English/Spanish bilingual a plus
- Knowledge, Skills & Attributes
- Proven experience as event manager
- Skilled in project management
- Computer savvy; proficient in MS Office
- Outstanding communication and negotiation ability
- Excellent organizational skills

- Experience working with volunteers
- Manage multiple tasks effectively and the ability to meet multiple deadlines
- Must have a current driver’s license and clear DMV record
Physical Demands:
The physical requirements of the job are for employees to talk, hear, bend/stoop, sitting, and/or standing for up to 8 hours per day. Furthermore, the job requires employees to lift/carry/push or pull up to 50 pounds with or without assistance. Requirements also include the ability to conduct basic event set-up, not limited to pop-up tents, tables and displays as well as transporting equipment and supplies using carts or dollies, with or without assistance.
Wages & Benefits:
Pay dependent on experience and qualifications. Employer paid medical, life insurance, long term disability, 401k, and generous Paid Time Off policy.

The Santa Rosa Metro Chamber is one the largest employer-focused nonprofit organizations in the North Bay region. Located in downtown Santa Rosa, the heart of Sonoma County, the Chamber delivers a network of services, information, and advocacy for membership and the North Bay business community at large. Anchored by long-standing programs and services providing education, training, workforce development, downtown vitality, and marketing among other areas, the Chamber has recently developed innovative efforts to address the region’s most challenging issues, such as housing affordability and access to quality childcare. The Small Business Development Center will be a critical program, working in partnership with the Chamber’s existing efforts, to increase the economic vitality of the region and increasing the economic opportunity for all in Sonoma County.
