Child Parent Institute receives Super Bowl 50 playmaker grant
The Child Parent Institute (CPI) and Mental Health Program Coordinator Lisa Manthe have been named the 46th playmaker in the 50 Fund’s Playmaker grant program, supported by the celebration of Super Bowl 50. This grant will fund a multi-dimensional, three-month project called “IDin3D,” for 27 students at CPI’s onsite school, New Directions. “With this grant we can start a new program of art therapy that speaks directly to the neuro-developmental needs of the adolescent brain,” said Robin Bowen, Executive Director of CPI. “It aims to enhance students’ imaginations, and helps them find meaning in their lives.”
The 50 Fund’s Playmaker grant was organized to highlight Bay Area nonprofits that strive to make a difference in the lives of our children and to recognize the people behind the scenes who make that difference possible. These grants are awarded in celebration of Super Bowl 50, which graciously honored 50 Bay Area residents for their service to the community.
“I believe that play and creative expression help us to understand ourselves and others. The best solutions to problems are created by people who come together and use their imagination and play. Our world needs more of them,” said Lisa Manthe, Mental Health Program Coordinator for CPI, who is leading the project funded by this grant.
