Classical Kids LIVE! joins Santa Rosa Symphony for “Mozart’s Magnificent Voyage,” a family-friendly concert March 18 at Green Music Center

The Santa Rosa Symphony welcomes Classical Kids LIVE! to the Green Music Center stage on March 18 at 3 PM for the final Finley Foundation Family Concert Series concert. Classical Kids LIVE! will take the audience on a journey through Mozart’s incredible life with Mozart and his young son, Karl as their guide. Richard Loheyde conducts “Mozart’s Magnificent Voyage,” a program especially geared to children under eight years old, filled with music from Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s operas The Magic Flute, The Marriage of Figaro, Don Giovanni and other engaging works by the famous composer.

Billboard magazine declared the program, “One of the most completely wondrous examples of children’s entertainment ever!” The Boston Herald praised Classical Kids LIVE!’s award-winning Mozart program as, “Far and away the best for introducing children to classical music!”

Mozart’s young son, Karl, longs to be taken from his boarding school to spend more time with his famous father. His wish is fulfilled when Wolfgang Amadeus takes him to a performance of The Magic Flute, giving Karl a chance to understand Mozart’s extraordinary life as a travelling prodigy, his pressures from family and fame, his passion for composing and the common bonds they both share. Karl and his father relive young Wolfgang’s meeting of the Queen of England and the Pope in Rome, visit the Sistine Chapel and enjoy Carnivale. Mozart, his son and the audience follow the Prince and Papageno as they try to rescue Princess Pamina from the Queen of the Night in Sarastro's enchanted castle. In the end, Karl knows he is well loved and that, although his father will die an early death just two months later, he will always have him by his side through his timeless music.

Classical Kids LIVE! is produced by Classical Kids Music Education, a nonprofit organization dedicated to furthering classical music education. It has received more awards and honors than any other entity of its kind.

Free Instrument Petting Zoo

A free Instrument Petting Zoo is available in the lobby at 2 PM. Children are invited to learn about, handle and play instruments in the Instrument Petting Zoo, which is supported by the SRS Music Education Department, SRS Youth Ensemble members and parent volunteers.

Tickets are $17/adult, $12/child (12 and under).

All patrons, no matter what age, must have a ticket. Seats are reserved.
