Grand Opening fundraiser at The Living Room's new home

The Living Room Center announces its biggest event of the year will be held Sunday, August 28, 2016, 2:00pm - 4:30pm, with this year’s theme of “Loving The Living Room.” This is our Grand Opening fundraiser at The Living Room’s new home located at 1207 Cleveland Avenue, Santa Rosa. Guests will enjoy hors d’oeuvres, local wines, silent auction, raffle, and live music including the Santa Rosa Children’s Choir under the artistic direction of Carol Menke.

Proceeds from this event will help us payoff the mortgage of our new home and continue providing essential meals and services to homeless women of all ages and their children. The Living Room moved to its new campus earlier this year thanks to the hard work of the organization, many volunteers, and the generosity of the community. Most of the construction and renovation is complete, with laundry and shower facilities now available to participants.

The Living Room has provided meals and a variety of services to its participants since 1993. Every day we meet more women who are sleeping outside and in cars due to overcrowded shelters, and more mothers with young children who must leave shelters early in the morning with no place to go. Many of these women have suffered trauma. Our goal is to provide them with the tools they need to meet the challenges of homelessness, and help them regain their dignity and self-reliance. Our friendly staff and volunteers address their specific needs by providing a safe and warm place to be during the day, while working with them in conjunction with other community agencies. We serve two healthy meals per day to an average of 70 people, and offer medical referrals, counseling, parenting classes, computer and phone access, voice mail, mailing address, community and housing referrals, job search assistance, and much more. We also provide clothing, diapers, bus tickets for medical appointments and job interviews, and LOTS OF LOVE.
