Santa Rosa Symphony continues series of free concerts at Sonoma County Library branches
After the success of last year’s collaboration between the Santa Rosa Symphony and the Sonoma County Library, members of the Symphony will once again bring their unique, free concert series to library branches around the county. A complete list of dates, times and locations is included later in this release.
Alan Silow, President and CEO of the Santa Rosa Symphony said, “The Symphony is delighted to renew our partnership with the Sonoma County Library to bring performances of our talented musicians beyond the concert stage to library settings. We’re happy to provide library patrons with free, up-close and enriching musical experiences”.
The String Quintet concert for families, held at two different west county libraries, will play a wide variety of music from some of the most well-known composers and some not-so-familiar. This family concert includes pieces for children, such as The Pink Panther, The Elephant from Camille Saint-Saëns Carnival of the Animals and Eine Kline Nachtmusik and, for adults, pieces composed by Benjamin Britten, Anton Dvorak, Amadeus Mozart, Johann Sebastian Bach and Antonio Vivaldi.
The Guitar and Flute Duo, performing at the Petaluma library, will entertain and educate audience members of every age. The short, interactive performance will include Q&A about the instruments.
In the Percussion Ensemble program at the Central library, the musicians take the audience on a musical tour by demonstrating how percussion instruments are played. Questions pertaining to percussion and about being professional percussionists are welcome. During this entertaining tour through the percussion section, some lucky members of the audience will join in to drum—and maybe even conduct!
Seating is limited and available on a first-come basis.
