The Santa Rosa Symphony Institute for Music Education presents a masterclass with internationally renowned, Grammy-winning cellist Zuill Bailey on Tuesday, March 16, at 7:00 PM via Zoom. In this open lesson, two cellists from the Santa Rosa Symphony Youth Orchestra and Young People’s Chamber Orchestra will perform. Audience members will listen and learn as observers. This is a unique opportunity for musicians and other interested parties to see a top-flight musician and music educator share insights and techniques, and watch students learn and grow in real time. Much of the advice given in any masterclass can be applied to any instrument. Therefore, all musicians, and even non-musicians, are encouraged to observe the masterclass.
"Zuill is widely regarded as a skilled and motivating educator," said Director of Education Wendy Cilman. "We are so fortunate to have him, and it's really exciting that, since it's on Zoom, the Institute can provide this opportunity to a broader audience."
A consummate concerto soloist, Bailey has been featured with symphony orchestras worldwide. He is Professor of Cello at the University of Texas at El Paso, Artistic Director of El Paso Pro Musica, the Sitka Summer Music Festival (Alaska), the Northwest Bach Festival (Washington) and the Mesa Arts Center Series (Arizona).
