St. Joseph Health Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital Achieves Accreditation from Commission on Cancer
Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital (SRMH) has earned a “Three-Year Accreditation with Commendation” from the Commission on Cancer (CoC) of the American College of Surgeons. This accreditation is given only to those facilities that provide the highest level of quality cancer care, which is proven by undergoing a rigorous evaluation process and review.
Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital received the three-year accreditation following an on-site evaluation in June which reviewed compliance with 32 CoC quality care standards in areas including cancer program management, clinical services, patient outcomes, continuum of care and data quality. In addition to meeting or exceeding the standards that are a staple of an excellent cancer program, the hospital received four commendations for standards that exceed expectations compared to all CoC accredited programs in the areas of Clinical Trial Accrual, Cancer Registrar Education, Nursing Care, and Data Submission/Accuracy of Data.
“The quality of care provided by Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital’s Cancer Program exceeds what is considered standard for a community hospital,” said Todd Salnas, president, St. Joseph Health, Sonoma County. “Accreditations such as this confirm that our hospital offers our neighbors the exceptional care that they expect and deserve, without having to leave the community.”
This is the second time SRMH has received a three-year accreditation from the American College of Surgeons. The hospital is one of only 112 cancer programs in California to earn this recognition.
The Cancer Program was also recognized as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology. This award is granted to facilities that achieve accreditation in all nine breast imaging modalities.
“Our cancer team exemplifies St. Joseph Health’s mission by continually improving the health and quality of life of the people in the communities we serve,” added Salnas. “Our Commission on Cancer accreditation is a great example of how we live this mission for those cancer patients that we serve.”
SRMH’s Cancer Program provides a comprehensive realm of cancer prevention, diagnostic and treatment services. These include screening and diagnostic services, clinical trials, genetic cancer risk evaluations and genetic testing, medical oncology, radiation oncology, surgery and survivorship care.
