Steele and Hops Public House Opens in Santa Rosa on July 12
Steele & Hops Public House, a casual family-owned restaurant and bar, opens on July 12 on Mendocino and Steele, offering diners unique cuisine and a robust bar menu, all with local influences from the Sonoma County. The name Steele & Hops celebrates the neighborhood and local community on Steele Lane and beyond, as well as hops, the seasoning of the beer that they will brew on site starting this fall.
With deep Sonoma County roots, Steele & Hops is founded by third and fourth generation Sonoma County natives, members of the Mary’s Pizza Shack family and extended family. With 95 combined years of restaurant industry experience, the family knows that people have become more sophisticated about what they eat and drink and that this neighborhood has been in need of restaurant offerings beyond fast food. This neighborhood in Santa Rosa, especially with the Junior College students and faculty so close by, increased the demand for a community hub with unique and extensive beer selection, reasonable prices and exceptional service.
Open for lunch and dinner, the menu will be contemporary, yet comfortable, featuring a new twist on pub food. Lead by local chefs and bartenders, Steele & Hops will cater to every diner’s need, featuring seasonal menus as well as a robust wine and beer list. Steele & Hops will house smoke, house grind and house pickle daily. From fun interpretations of a burger to twists on essential items like chicken wings and mac ‘n cheese, Steele & Hops keeps the menu distinct and fun. Unique menu items include fried cheese curds, a soft and warm pretzel with house-made beer cheese sauce, signature pizzas and a house-smoked beef brisket sandwich with Steele & Hops’ homemade barbecue sauce served on a brioche bun.
Supporting local breweries and offering unique international offerings, Steele & Hops will offer a robust beer menu with 20 taps of craft beers on draft. They will be brewing on site in early 2017. Steele & Hops will be serving wines from local vineyards in Sonoma and Napa Counties and also offering four wines on tap.
The décor is rustic with recovered wood ceilings, steel and brick and a 10 barrel stainless steel fermentation tank sitting behind the bar. Artwork will feature historical Santa Rosa photos that feature the rich farming and brewing history of the area.
“We are excited to open in the Santa Rosa market. Growing up in Sonoma County and working in the local restaurant business, we have always wanted to partner together to create a public house that is part of the community with the best beer menu, exceptional food and the finest service. We will be watching our dreams come together on July 12th when we open our doors for business,” states Cully Williamson, owner of Steele and Hops Public House.
Steele & Hops Public House is located at 1901 Mendocino at Steele in the Redwood Plaza Shopping Center, just a few blocks from the Santa Rosa Junior College. The Public House accommodates 110 seats, plus a private dining space for events and plenty of seating around the fire pit on the patio. Dine-in or take-out for lunch and dinner daily is available.
