Urgent! Volunteers Needed for Schools of Hope Literacy Tutoring
Every year we bring on hundreds of new volunteers for our Schools of Hope literacy tutoring program. Schools of Hope has been making an incredible impact on student reading proficiency; we can’t do what we do without the help of volunteers who spend nearly 10,000 hours per year in the classroom with K-3 students.
Plainly, we are short nearly 150 tutors. We are orienting tutors for a February start, but so far we only have 15 of the 150 we need. If everyone we sent this to recruited one or two friends, neighbors or spouses, we would meet our community’s need for the year.
We thank you in advance for your activism and action!
Anyone who is interested in volunteering 30 minutes per week for Schools of Hope can contact our volunteer coordinator, Emmanuel Moon, at (707) 528-4485 ext. 103 or emmanuel.moon@unitedwaywinecountry.org for more information. We have drop-in orientations scheduled through January 20, which include on-site fingerprinting for people who have already decided they would like to volunteer. Orientations are not city-specific – you can attend any of the following orientations:
