Virtuosic violinist Gilles Apap returns to our series to perform with pianist Eric Ferrand-N'Kaoua: a dynamic duo you won't want to miss! Described by Yehudi Menuhin as "a true violinist of the 21st century," Gilles Apap is known for his virtuosity, unique approach to music and the skill to bring joy to every concert hall. He delivers distinctive performances of the standard classical repertoire combined with genres such as jazz and folk from around the world--the result is unique programming merging the borderlines between musical styles. French pianist Eric Ferrand-N'Kaoua (pronounced Ennkawa) was born near Paris in 1963. He studied with Madeleine de Valmalète from an early age and soon entered the Conservatoire National Supérieur, where he obtained first prize with distinction in piano when only 14, soon followed by a first prize in chamber music. He is also an avid chamber music performer and forms an unconventional duo with the French violinist Gilles Apap.
