Brighter, More Energy-Efficient Winter Lights
Despite the daytime rain, well over 1,000 community members turned out on the Friday after Thanksgiving for Winter Lights, the annual downtown tree lighting celebration that kicks off the holidays in Courthouse Square.
To the delight of kids young and old, Santa Claus arrived by fire truck to kick off festivities that included specialty food trucks and vendors, children's activities, live music, photos with Santa and the Remembrance Candle Lighting Ceremony led by Sutter Care at Home & Hospice. As dusk approached, the crowd grew in anticipation of seeing the new lights on the tree, an upgrade made possible by Sonoma Clean Power.
“SCP has been talking to the Santa Rosa Metro Chamber for the past three years, looking at ways to update the lights on the holiday tree,” said SCP’s Director of Public Affairs & Marketing, Kate Kelly. “The new lights are energy efficient and will bring a brighter look to the reunified Courthouse Square. As the official Tree Lighting Sponsor for the Winter Lights celebration, SCP is honored to light the way to a clean energy future.”
Winter Lights is an annual event produced by the Santa Rosa Metro Chamber and local volunteers with the support of our sponsors.
