Courthouse Square Construction Starts Week of May 23
Construction is set to begin next week on the Reunification of Courthouse Square. If you work downtown, plan to visit the Chamber or other businesses on the Square, or are just interested in keeping up with the project, there are some important things to note.
Monday, May 23, fencing will go up and will be within six feet of the buildings that border the Square. This is to facilitate the first construction priority of reinstalling Hinton and Exchange Avenues on the east and west side of the Square. You'll still be able to walk between Third and Fourth Streets through those routes, as well as access the businesses that will remain open. It's bound to be noisy and dusty during the demolition, but it’s the City's goal to complete this project without creating any more disturbance than necessary. Construction is expected to be completed by mid-November 2016.
