Economic Impact & Individual Stories of IRONMAN
If you’ve been through downtown this week, it’s obvious that IRONMAN Santa Rosa is gearing up for the first of two races in 2019 that are poised to exceed the $20 million economic windfall it delivered to the city and county last year.
“There are no other events that are even close to this positive economic impact,” says Metro Chamber CEO Peter Rumble, who will be a participating athlete in July’s event. “For context, the release of Russian River Brewing’s Pliny the Younger produces $4.2 million, which is amazing. Ironman produces five times that positive impact.”
Just as impressive as the economic impact are the participating athletes, each with their own unique story and reasons for testing themselves in one of the most rigorous triathlons around. Join in the excitement by cheering the athletes along the route or as they cross the finish line in downtown on Saturday, or join the party early with a stroll through IRONMAN Village this week and catch the free family night screening of Instant Family staring Mark Wahlberg at 8:30 pm, this Thursday, May 9th in Courthouse Square.
