Gala Honoree Spotlight: Sutter Health - Large Business of the Year
Healthcare and our community are in a state of transformation. Nothing embodies this more than the development that can be seen up and down the 101 corridor. Sutter Health’s new hospital on Mark West Springs road will be opening in October. This project brings more than $300 million to the area and 1,500+ jobs. These jobs consist of numerous local trades:
- Planning consultants
- Information technology consultants
- Building inspectors,
- General and sub contractors
- Legal consultants,
- Environmental consultants,
- Signage consultants,
- Building plan reproduction,
- Support staffing required by these local businesses.
This new state-of-the art medical facility will provide a full range of five-star personalized care and award-winning services in all-private rooms. Services include: intensive care; emergency services; obstetrics, nursery care and level III neonatal intensive care; medical and surgical services; invasive cardiac surgery; supporting ancillary services; and a full range of women's reproductive health services.
Sutter’s mission extends beyond economics. We put our mission into action by investing in community-based services, healthcare workforce development, physician education, prevention/wellness programs and charity care for the underserved. Sutter is a leader in the Healthcare Workforce Development Program consisting of 20+ health care providers and educators throughout Sonoma County. This program encourages high school students of diverse backgrounds to pursue careers in health care. Through job shadowing, mentoring, financial aid and college application assistance, in addition to services, this unique program works to develop a more culturally competent workforce. Sutter assists disadvantaged families’ access to primary medical care and nurtures the next generation of physicians in Sonoma County. At Vista Clinic, our family medicine doctors care for patients and receive outpatient training. More than half of all family physicians practicing in Sonoma County have graduated from Sutter’s Family Medicine Residency Program. Sutter also participates in various activities and community projects such as BEST (Building Economic Success Together).
Sutter Medical Center of Santa Rosa has a long history of giving back to the community, which includes providing free or discounted care for people who can’t afford to pay. Our commitment is reflected in our generous financial assistance policies for patients who seek care at our hospitals or medical foundations. Sutter has a financial assistance policy to help low-income patients, patients with high medical costs and uninsured patients. In addition to full and partial charity care, we provide special circumstances, catastrophic and high medical cost charity care.
