Grants support child care providers and working families
The Metro Chamber is happy to announce that, through our Foundation, we have secured and distributed five “Celebrate a Child” grants – totaling $20,000 – to help support child care facilities owned and operated by women of diversity. Grants of $4,000 were awarded to:
- Child Family Community, inc
- Melbrooks Nursery School
- Peek-A-Boo Playhouse Community Preschool Program
- Childkind Preschool
- Angels home daycare
The grant dollars will be put to a variety of uses like adding portable child-height handwashing sinks for classrooms, subsidizing extra costs of operating within the state’s guidance, and equipping additional classrooms and play areas to maintain capacity of providing child care to working families.
With the challenges of COVID-19 to the child care industry, addressing this crisis level workforce issue is more important than ever before. One of the most beneficial ways to ensure the current and future success of our local businesses, the economy, and Sonoma County’s working families is to support the workforce of today while developing the workforce of tomorrow by ensuring access to early education and care.
