Hotel E Opens in Old Courthouse Square
Hotel E, a Greystone Hotel, is a 111-year-old iconic beaux-arts building. The 39-room hotel was previously home to a bank, a law firm and then a college. With credit for the development going to the Hugh Futrell Corporation, its adaptive reuse helps in redevelopment efforts for downtown recently reunited Old Courthouse Square.
The original façade of the building was kept during the restoration of the four-story building, while interiors were updated for modern tastes. The Enology Lounge—which is a wine bar, living room and lobby—is housed on the ground floor. The hotel also includes 1,000 sq. ft. of meeting space.
The project will include a second phase, which will include 29 additional guestrooms, two suites, a restaurant and coffee shop. That development is set to open in the spring of 2020.
