Improving Employee English Skills Through WHEEL Program
Earlier in July, the Chamber wrapped up a second successful round of Worksite Held Employee English Learning (WHEEL) program classes at Fetzer Vineyards. Twenty-one employees participated in the program, and graduation was a big deal with additional certificates for perfect attendance, most improved, and top scholars.
"Both new and returning students were enthusiastic about walking into the classroom, ready to learn, and grateful to be part of an ESL Program that is not only closely related to their job, but that will help develop their communication skills in every part of their lives," said Maria Gonzalez, Human Resource Representative. "The improvement is evident and we are very excited to partner with the WHEEL program for a third year in the near future!"
The WHEEL program has been successfully implemented at notable Sonoma County employers like Amy's Kitchen, La Tortilla Factory, Best Western Wine Country Inn, Courtyard by Marriott, Costeaux French Bakery, and Traditional Medicinals among others.
The WHEEL program is partially funded by First 5 Sonoma County. For more information on the WHEEL program, visit the WHEEL pages on the Chamber’s website or contact Leslie Andersen at (707) 636-3662.
