Leadership Santa Rosa Natural Resources Day
Leadership Santa Rosa Class 37 had their second fully in-person program day last week. Natural Resources Day was held at the beautiful location of Pepperwood Preserve. The program focused on developing a thorough understanding of Sonoma County’s natural resources and management efforts and taking a deeper dive into water, waste, energy, and climate change. The day also focused on exploring the conflict and balance of habitat protection, conservation, and human use.
Class 37 members enjoyed a lovely walking tour and hike, led by Pepperwood Preserve’s Clint McKay and Sloane Shinn, where they learned and explored the land and the impact of fire. Another highlight of the day was an activity in which the class created and preformed a 3 minute news broadcast highlighting the innovative fire management programs that are being developed to make our community more fire-safe and ecologically friendly.
