Lineup Announced for Summer on the Square Music and Movies 2023
The Santa Rosa Metro Chamber (SRMC) is pleased to announce a full slate of events and programming on and around Downtown Santa Rosa’s Courthouse Square this summer. Thanks to local organizations such as presenting sponsor Poppy Bank and level one Keysight Technologies, SRMC will once again host Summer on the Square, which brings music, movies and family fun Downtown all summer long.
“Poppy Bank is honored to be partnering with the Santa Rosa Metro Chamber to bring Summer on the Square back to Santa Rosa once again this year,” says Poppy Bank President and CEO, Khalid Acheckzai. “We are passionate about supporting the economic prosperity within this community. The Metro Chamber has done a phenomenal job bringing musical talent, family-fun activities, and life back to the downtown area following the 2-year shut down. As a community bank, we are thrilled to continue our support not only for the local businesses, but also for the local families who make this city so great.”
Music on the Square will bring live music and dancing to Downtown Courthouse Square on seven Fridays throughout the summer. The Lost Church, a nonprofit arts organization with a Downtown performance space, is helping coordinate the scheduling of local performers who bring a diversity of styles. Concerts begin 6pm, and the lineup includes:
- June 16: Salsa Rosa Orquesta
- June 23: School of Rock House Band
- June 30: The Sorentinos and The THUGZ (KRSH Backyard Concert on the Road)
- July 7: Dustin Saylor & Band and opener Quiet Time
- July 14: Sol Horizon and opener Simoné Mosely
- July 21: The Sonoma County Super Jam featuring The Pulsators and Special Guests (KRSH Backyard Concert on the Road)
- July 28: La Gente SF
Beer and wine from local producers will be for sale on-site, and concert-goers are encouraged to stay for dinner at a Downtown restaurant. This year, media partner Wine Country Radio and the KRSH will be partnering by taking over two of the concert nights (June 30, July 21) with their Backyard Concerts on the road.
Movies on the Square are back this year and better than ever. Four Monday night screenings on a massive LED screen will light up Courthouse Square in Downtown Santa Rosa. Movie screenings begin at 6:00pm, and the lineup includes:
- July 10: Puss in Boots: The Last Wish (2022)
- July 17: Sonic the Hedgehog (1/2020)
- July 24: Dora and the Lost City of Gold (2019)
- July 31: Ralph Breaks the Internet (2018)
Prepackaged movie snacks and beer and wine from local producers will be for sale on-site. Movie-goers are encouraged to order take-out from a Downtown restaurant to enjoy during the movies.
In addition to the music, movies and family fun, the Chamber is supporting and helping coordinate dozens of independent events on and around the Square like artist and maker markets, festivals and cultural celebrations.
Activities like these not only help support local businesses like downtown shops and restaurants as well as small and micro business vendors at these events, festivals and markets, but also promotes a connected, inclusive sense of community, creates positive experiences for tourists and visitors, and builds a sense of place in the heart of Sonoma County.
“We love having free live music and movies in the square during summer,” says SRMC CEO Peter Rumble. “It’s great to see so many families coming out and enjoying themselves; it helps to build community. In addition, our small businesses downtown get a boost. I can’t wait to spend some wonderful, warm, Downtown Santa Rosa nights at Summer on the Square this year.”
Summer on the Square is made possible by support from Presenting Sponsor, Poppy Bank, and level one sponsor Keysight Technologies. The Santa Rosa Metro Chamber partners with the City of Santa Rosa, Visit Santa Rosa, and the Downtown District to bring Summer on the Square, Fall Fun Fest and Winter Lights to our community. Operational support is provided by nonprofit partners The Lost Church and Chop’s Teen Club.
