Member Spotlight: Brew Coffee & Beer House

Walking into Brew Coffee & Beer House in downtown Santa Rosa, the first thing I noticed was the friendly, open atmosphere that reminded me of Cheers—the feeling that within a couple visits I would be a regular and everyone would know my name.

Owners Alisse Cottle and Jessica Borrayo conceptualized Brew Coffee & Beer House during their days at Taylor Maid Coffee in Sebastopol Barlow. They noticed that beer and coffee could be interchanged throughout the day. According to Jessica, they have customers finish their night-shift jobs and come into the shop for a cold beer after work hours. At the same time, they have customers grabbing their morning cup of coffee as they are going to work. This mix of products and customers has made the coffee shop a unique and social experience.

Alisse and Jessica graciously took some time out of their busy Friday morning to share stories with me about their vision and actually making it a reality. They put their plan into action when the old Donut Hut space on Healdsburg Avenue became vacant. It was a labor of love and they are grateful to those in the business community that supported them. They are coming up on their 2 year anniversary!

Their goal is to have the small town coffee shop feel with all locally sourced and sustainable products. They source the coffee from Ritual, a San Francisco based roaster. In addition, they have 10 different taps with local breweries represented. Furthermore, one of their taps is reserved for a cold brew. I actually had the opportunity to try the cold brew and it is wonderful! As a non-cold coffee drinker, I highly recommend it! In addition, they have expanded their menu selection and now offer both breakfast and lunch options. In sticking with the local theme, they also source pastries from Criminal Bakery Co., Village Bakery and Grateful Bagel.

This cute and quaint little coffee shop definitely deserves big praises. The Santa Rosa Chamber of Commerce congratulates Brew Coffee & Beer House for being an active member who goes above and beyond for their customers. We wish you much success.
