Recovery & Resiliency
We’re grateful that the fires in our area are moving toward full containment, and thank all our emergency services, government and medical providers who have worked heroically to ensure our safety.
Even as the immediate danger has subsided, we recognize the difficulty that many members may be facing in returning to normalcy. We are taking action and ask that you tell us what more we can do.
In concert with the EDB, we are assessing the economic impact of recent power shut-offs and distributing a Business Recovery Resources Guide that lists the types of local, state and federal resources and benefits for affected businesses.
This week, we’ll convene all area Chambers of Commerce as well as a number of small business owners to gather input on small business needs due to the power shut-offs and fires. Financial assistance, regulatory relief, marketing and promotion, amongst other needs will be compiled and sent to City Councils, the Board of Supervisors and the Governor’s Office to elicit support for recovery efforts at the city, county and state levels.
It’s been our goal to keep you updated with information and resources, in partnership with the City of Santa Rosa and County emergency services – from the dissemination of emergency information to keeping the community apprised of resources available during power shutoffs through open downtown businesses.
We also played a part in serving the needs of our community, including bringing together business and volunteers to provide breakfast at an evacuation center and quickly coordinating downtown businesses for Halloween trick or treating once the evacuations were lifted. A huge thank you to those businesses and individuals who have stepped up and offered help to their neighbors.
Just as our organization was born from the rubble of the 1906 earthquake, we’re here for the community. As you work to restart the day-to-day for your company, we’ll be hard at work on behalf of the entire business community – while you focus on getting back to business, we will be playing an active role in advancing our economy.
Thank you for this opportunity to serve you, and please let us know if the Chamber can help you address a specific need: 707-545-1414.
