Update: Business Alert Regarding Fire Clean-up Activities
We’re grateful that fires in our area are moving toward full containment. Once again, we thank those who have stepped up and offered help to their neighbors, as well all of our emergency services, government and medical providers who are working to ensure our safety.
As the immediate danger has subsided in many areas, the City of Santa Rosa has issued a business alert regarding fire clean-up activities. This is important information as violations could potentially invalidate insurance claims and financial assistance or have legal ramifications.
BUSINESS ALERT:
DO NOT REMOVE ASH, DEBRIS OR HAZARDOUS MATERIALS FROM YOUR PROPERTY!
We understand the desire for people to start the rebuilding process by cleaning up the burn site. Property owners should exercise caution and use proper protective equipment when handling any ash or hazardous materials from their property. Improper handling and disposal can be harmful to property owners, children and the general public. Small scale sifting through ashes to locate any remaining personal items will not impact residents' ability to get financial assistance. However, unauthorized large scale removal of debris and ash should be coordinated with government officials prior to removal or you may face legal consequences.
The City of Santa Rosa and County of Sonoma have information on re-entry and clean up, and more information specific to businesses will be coming soon.
Interactive Map of Structures Impacted by Fires
CAL FIRE has developed an interactive online mapping tool that allows individuals in the County of Sonoma and City of Santa Rosa to look up the status of structures impacted by the fires.
By typing in an address, the map will pull up data to indicate whether a structure has been damaged, destroyed, or unaffected. The map is available online and can be viewed by clicking this link: http://goo.gl/wsCHLr
