YPN Member Spotlight: Amy Canfield, Keysight Technologies
YPN member spotlights are a quick introduction to some of our favorite YPN members. This month, we're spotlighting Amy Canfield, New Product Introduction Engineer at Keysight Technologies.
What brought you to Sonoma County, and why did you join YPN?
I moved to Sonoma County for work when I accepted an offer from Keysight after college. I studied electrical engineering, so I was familiar with Keysight, and I also thought that Sonoma County seemed like a beautiful place to live. That has definitely turned out to be true.
Since I didn't know anyone outside of work when I moved here, I really wanted to make an effort to get plugged in to the local community. That led me to my interest in YPN, and I was fortunate that Keysight is also a big supporter of YPN so I was able to get my membership through my work.
What is your favorite YPN memory, and why?
My favorite YPN memory is attending the Chamber mixer at Perch + Plow. What I like about the chamber mixers is that we get to meet both YPN and chamber members. I think there's a lot of great insight and experience that can be shared that way. I also think Perch + Plow is a quintessential Santa Rosa venue with good cocktails and a view of Courthouse Square.
Share with us a fun fact that not many people know about!
I have an affinity for languages, and I have studied Spanish, Korean, Chinese, and Polish. I also had the privilege to study abroad in Spain and Singapore to hone my skills further.
If you could accomplish anything, professionally, academically, or personally, what would it be?
I recently started learning to knit, so a personal goal I have is to knit a sweater. One of my more long-term career goals is to get a master's degree in electrical engineering.
What are your favorite Sonoma County/Santa Rosa activities?
I love the variety of things there are to do in Sonoma County! A personal favorite of mine is watching the sunset at Bodega Head. I love to bring out of town guests to the coast to explore the trails and watch the wildlife. I've seen everything from starfish to whales and beyond. Even when it's foggy it feels otherworldly.
